Chapter 8

Saturday Night

Jake called Brendan right when he got home. He was pissed that Brendan had done this to someone he cared so much about. He dialed the numbers, tapping the screen hard.*

There were two and a half rings until Brendan's voice came on the other line. "Hello?"
"Why did you do it? Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about."
There was a pause and a sigh before Brendan finally responded. "I was mad Jake. I'm so sorry. I wish I hadn't done it."
"You can't just take it back. You've changed Luke's life and it's too late to undo it."
"I know. I feel like shit."
"Who exactly did you tell?"
"Ally, Emma, and Christina. They asked about you... So I told them what you told me."
"Oh..." Jake realized he had caused this too. Brendan had a right to be mad, but not to take it out on Luke.*
"Well, you better do everything you can to help Luke through what you've caused for him."
"Of course. Anything he needs."
"Good. He isn't ready for this and now he has no choice."

Jake hung up. He knew he had probably really hurt Brendan. He sighed. He didn't want all this drama. He just wanted a happy relationship with Luke. Maybe it would still happen. He decided he should call Luke too, see how he was doing.*

"Hey," Jake said softly. "How is everything?"
"Hi. It's... okay. I haven't really responded to the texts."
"Luke, that's not going to help you."
"I know, but how am I supposed to tell jerks like Ryan and Colin and their whole group of asshole jocks?"
"I didnt say it was easy. But you can't just expect them to forget about it! They're going ask you in school. What are you gonna do then?"
"I have no idea."
"Great."
"It'll work out."
"Yeah, but it might not end the way you'd like it to."
"I guess we'll find out on Monday."
"Yeah I guess so."

Two phone calls that had not gone well. Things were not looking good.*

Lauren's house

"Our guest room is filled with junk for our yard sale, so you can just stay in my room." Lauren said.*
"Isn't there only one bed?" Taylor questioned.*
"I have no problem sharing it with my lesbian best friend, don't worry."

Taylor smiled. Lauren and her family were being amazing. They had let her in with open arms, totally supportive. Taylor wished her parents were like that.

"I just can't thank you enough Lauren. I don't know what I'd have done without you."
"I'm happy to help. Plus, we're gonna be roomies! I know it's not the best way for that to happen, but we can try and have a good time."

Taylor already had plans for making the very best of it. She would be sleeping in the same room as her love for who knows how long. Maybe it would be time to make a move and finally figure out if things with Lauren could work. *But that wasn't worth her family being torn apart.*

Part 1

Monday, May 9th 2011
Lauren's house

Taylor woke up, forgetting at first where she was. She turned over and remembered when she saw Lauren lying next to her. Damn, even with her long brown hair in a mess around her, she was still so hot. It was hard for Taylor to resist her. But somehow she did and quietly stepped out of bed.*

She went to the bathroom and began getting ready for school. She had grabbed all of her needed toiletries before leaving her real home. Which didn't feel like her home anymore.*

After taming her short dark brown hair, freshening up, and eating a bowl of fruit loops with Lauren, the two walked down to the bus stop.*

A few people asked why Taylor was there, but they just told them Taylor was staying with Lauren because her parents were on vacation. That so was much easier than telling them the truth.*

School

Seeing Luke's face in the morning gave Jake a wave of relief. The bus ride had not been enjoyable. It was like he could feel his peers staring at him, he even heard a few whispers. It was weird. They hadn't payed much attention to Jake before, but now, he was in their spotlight. Brendan had smiled at him, trying to make things the way they were. They both knew that wouldn't happen, at least not yet.*

"Luke, it's so good to see you," Jake said, and reached for a hug.*
Luke stepped back. "Hugging a guy in front of everyone probably isn't the best thing for me right now. But I'm happy to see you too."
Jakes smile faded a little. "Anyone ask yet?"
"Yeah."
"And?"
"I sort of laughed it off but didn't give a solid answer."
"That's not bad I guess. Not everyone will take that though. Some will probably demand an answer."
"I'm scared of that. I don't know what to say."
"Say yes. I know it's scary, but you'll have our group no matter what."*
"I'll try. You know what, fuck it, hug me."

That brought the grin right back to Jake's face. Then he hugged Luke as tight as he could without hurting him. Bad timing there. Colin, Nick, and Thomas were walking right past.*

"Look at these two fags!" Colin taunted.*
"So cute," Thomas teased.*

Jake and Luke let go immediately and turned to the bullies.*

"Shut up." Jake said.*
"Make me." Colin replied.*
Luke stepped forward. Jake put his hand in his way, blocking him. "Don't. They're not worth it." he whispered.*
"These gay wimps don't even deserve our time." Nick said.*
"Yeah, we better go before they try and turn us into homos." Colin laughed.*

Luke had had enough. He pushed Jake away and punched Colin square in the nose. Colin moved his hand up to it to feel a stream of blood.*

"Oh, you're gonna get it now faggot."

Don't apologize :P. As fiction goes, John wins. He made Luke and Jake so perfect in every way, and I've told him a billion times, his story trumps mine 100 times over.

Only other response to that: How can Luke and Jake be kings of gay stories on getdare when they're fictional though? John's the king in that category, a realer than real, amazing guy <3

Chapter 9
Part 2

Colin immediately recoiled and prepared to punch Luke back, but Jake stepped up right in time to push him away. As Colin stumbled backward a few steps, Nick moved in and shoved Jake. He lost his footing and tumbled onto the ground. Luke grabbed Nick and slammed him into the lockers next to them. He stumbled to the side. Thomas joined the fight and knocked Luke back against the wall, pinning him there.

Meanwhile, students from the hall were already crowding around to watch the action. A few were reaching into their pockets to pull out phones and get a video.

Jake tried to push himself up off the ground but Colin kicked him right back down to floor. Nick was moving in on Luke, who was still pinned and desperately trying to get away. Just in time, a teacher from the closest classroom ran out, having heard the yelling and other noises of the fight.

“Boys! Stop right now!” She screamed, moving in between Nick and Luke. “All five of you, office immediately! Everyone else, get to class!”

Lauren was the first to hear the chanting. “Fight! Fight! Fight!” She grabbed Taylor's shoulder. “Do you hear that?”
“Holy shit. Let’s go find out what’s going on!” Taylor was already running down the hall. A crowd came into view. So did Mrs. Daly, who had just came out of her room and was beginning to shout. Taylor and Lauren slowed to a stop when they reached the back of the now dissipating group of teens.
“Wait. Is that?”
“Jake and Luke. Shit.” Taylor said and sprinted forward. Her worries were confirmed when she saw Nick, Colin, and Thomas also standing in the fight zone. This had been a homophobic crime against Jake and Luke.

Taylor had heard Luke was gay, but had the consideration not to question him about it, mostly because she knew she wouldn’t want to be asked either. She had advised Lauren to do the same.

“What the hell happened here?” Taylor fumed.
“These two fags decided to attack us.” Nick taunted.
“Hey! I said office!” Mrs. Daly directed, but Taylor didn’t care. She went up to Nick and smacked him across the face, leaving a red mark on his cheek.
“Stay out of it!” Lauren warned Taylor.
“What’s your problem bitch?” Nick said, holding his hand to the skin she had slapped. Taylor made a fist.
“You’re about to be the one with problems.”
“THAT’S IT!” Mrs. Daly was now as loud as a middle aged woman can get. “I guess I have to walk you all down!” She moved the two groups to different sides of her, Nick, Colin, and Thomas on the left, Jake, Luke, and Taylor on the right. She then escorted them downstairs to go to the principal.

Lauren was still standing there behind them, now crying. Tyler appeared out of nowhere and hugged her. “It’s okay baby. They’ll be okay.”
She cried on his shoulder for a moment then realized something. She pushed him back. “Wait, have you been here for the whole fight?”
“I came in during the middle.”
“And- and you didn’t do anything?” Lauren was taken aback.
“Well, there wasn’t not much I could-”
“Yes there was! You could have done anything to defend them! Jake is your best friend and Luke is close to you too!”
“Babe, a teacher was going to come out any second, it wasn’t worth the trouble.”
“You wouldn’t care about that! I’ve seen you get in fights before! I can’t believe you!” Lauren turned away, so incredibly angry. At Tyler, at the bullies, at Lauren’s parents, at every homophobe in the world. She ran to the girls bathroom to cry more, ignoring Tyler’s pleads for her to come back.

That was a rough chapter. It still needs one more part, but I figured you guys have waited long enough. Hopefully things will brighten up in a chapter or two.
